On April 28,2024, the S. T. Nagbe Distant Members Fellowship had a zoom meeting to discuss progress, challenges, and preparedness for the highly anticipated Fellowship convention scheduled for August 29th– September 1st, 2024, in PA, Pennsylvania.
Other discussions of the meeting surrounded program planning for Mother’s and Father’s Day, Financial report, and a revised version of Articles 1-4 of the constitution. The Financial report provided a positive financial outlook and motivation for the Fellowship’s future.
Feedback from the Fellowship on its rotational headquarter referencing US 501 (c) (3) guidelines was taken under advisement by the Constitution Review Committee.
A very insightful presentation on Retirement Savings was delivered by a financial expert Ms. Lilian McClung highlighting strategies, processes and procedure that allow one to retire stress free. The meeting was attended by 57 members and presided over by our illustrious president Dartor Bolo.
During the meeting, Cllr. Tweh and Rev. Dr. Sarwolo Nelson provided updates on the United Methodist Church Conference held in Charlotte, North Carolina. Dr. Muriel Nelson also assisted by answering clarifying questions. Rev. Dr. Sarwolo Nelson informed the Fellowship that LGBTQ was high on the agenda of the conference. He further informed the group of the massive denial of U.S. visas for delegates from Africa thereby reducing the vote counts for specific issues paramount to the African churches.
On the other hand, Cllr. Tweh expressed gratitude to the Fellowship for the successful completion of the Mildred Page Hall renovation project. Cllr. Tweh reported that he was specifically attending the conference to relinquish his position as President of the Judiciary Council of the United Methodist Church due to new responsibilities he recently acquired as Minister of Justice for the Republic of Liberia.
President Bolo expressed gratitude to the attendees and guest while Olivia Brown closed the meeting with an electrifying prayer.
