Workshop for Incitement and Amplification of the New Year

First workshop for the year 2024 of the S.T. Nagbe Distant Member Fellowship held on Sunday, February 18,2024 was hosted by the Program Committee under the leadership of Sis. Brenda Bedell and Sis. Florence Fonderson Chair and Co-Chair respectively. The workshop was designed to educate, inform, and inspire members of the fellowship towards increasing the size of the membership, motivate members to continuously provide funding for the completion of existing and upcoming projects and further emphasize one of the most important missions of Christendom: Making Disciples for Christ.  The theme of the workshop was adeptly coined “SKILLINFINITE WORKSHIP”- Using one’s skill to move the fellowship beyond the chatroom and into the communities.

During the workshop, new members were inducted into the fellowship while old members were given the opportunity to recommit themselves to providing services to the Fellowship for the New Year. Pastor Nat E. Miller an inspirational speaker addressed the gathering of approximately 50 persons on the theme “Inspire and Ignite Visionaries” from the book of Romans chapter 12, verse 11.

Pastor Miller exuded dynamism throughout his presentation by emphasizing pain points that identified ways to motivate and fire up passion in members. He also recognized key challenges like (finances, finding the right people for the task, funders, fatigue, etc.) that arise with the birth of a vision. To continuously nurture the vision, Pastor Miller recommended desire, decision making, determination, and discipline. Rev. Levi Williams on behalf of the Fellowship thanked Pastor Miller for his vibrant, stimulating, and pragmatic presentation.

Due to his inspirational and motivational presentation, majority of those in attendance requested, through text messages that President Dartor Bolo extends an invitation to Pastor Miller to serve as Guest Speaker at the DMF General Assembly scheduled for August 29 through September 1, 2024, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Bro. Garmunie Davies welcomed 15 new persons to the Fellowship while Rev. Henry Dolopei led the Fellowship in their recommitment vows. Nowal Kpangbai, on behalf of new members thanked the leadership for the encouragement to join the DMF.

In closing, Bro. Samuel Wuo offered the “Food for Thought.” He welcomed new members and encouraged all members to be fully involved in the work of the Fellowship since it is a service to Christ.  A breakout session of four small groups was created to explore two questions:

  • How can we ensure the DMF meets its goals?
  • How can we encourage members involvement in the activities of the Fellowship?

Following the breakout session, each group reported their takeaways to the main group.

The workshop ended on a positive vibe with the indication that the workshop did provide the impetus needed to ignite the group for a productive year.
